Olympics 2008 Medals

This chart shows the medal ranking of the 2008 Olympic participants initially viewed as a ranking list of the top 15 countries. Use of the interactive slider will increase the number of participants shown to the 88 nations that won at least one medal. There are 7 nations represented at rank 81 (Venezuela, Togo, Moldawien, Mauritius, Israel, Egypt, Afghanistan). China came out on top in the 2008 Olympics. While the US had the most medals overall, China had more gold medals. 55 nations won at least one gold medal. Russia placed third in the medal race. From the west European countries England had the highest medal ranking in fourth place followed by Germany in fifth place. France came in at tenth place. Adjustments due to the loss of medals from post games convictions over doping are not reflected in this chart.
