US Savings Ratio over TimeThis regularly updated iChart shows the US savings ratio as a percentage of disposable income over time. The savings ratio represents the fraction of personal income that is not immediately spent and kept for future use. Numerically it is defined as personal savings divided by disposable personal income. Disposable personal income equals personal income less current taxes whereas personal savings equals disposable personal income less personal outlays.
