Dallas Mavericks - Season by Season Record : 1980-presentThe Dallas Mavericks (also known as the Mavs) are the professional basketball team of the National Basketball Association based in Dallas, Texas. Founded in 1980, the Dallas Mavericks have won two division titles (1987 and 2007) and one conference championship (2006). According to Forbes Magazine, the Mavericks are the sixth most valuable basketball franchise in the United States, valued at approximately $461 million, surpassed only by the New York Knicks, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Chicago Bulls, the Detroit Pistons and the Houston Rockets. Carlisle becomes the ninth coach in Mavericks history. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Carlisle arrives in Dallas with six years of head coaching experience with Detroit and Indiana and holds a career record of 281-211 (.571). Carlisle teams have made five postseason appearances, including two trips to the Eastern Conference Finals. In his two seasons with Detroit and his first in Indiana, Carlisle became the first coach since Pat Riley to win 50 games and division championships in each of his first three seasons.
