1. Saint Bernard – $1,500

To start off the list is the St. Bernard, a dog that comes from the western Alps in Italy and Switzerland. Originally they were used for rescuing people, by the hospice of the Great St Bernard Pass on the Italian-Swiss border. A movie made in 1992 called Beethoven made the breed much more popular and probably has something to do with its high price.

This a pretty tall and interesting looking dog, it comes from Ireland and is known throughout history as a sighthound. It was bred to go after game and to be used as a guard dog and is also very good at hunting and protecting against wolves. As far as the height goes, it comes in at 30”-32” and weighs around 150lbs, it costs around $3000.

3. Bedlington Terrier – $4,000

This dog’s name comes from the town of Delington, Northumberland in North East England, this small terrier packs a punch when it comes to the price tag. In the beginning they were bred to hunt vermin, but since then they were also used for dog racing and other dog sports.

4. Portuguese Water Dog – $5,000

Here we have a breed that basically a working dog, as classified by the American Kennel Club, known as The Portuguese Water Dog. It comes from the Algarve, Portugal, and was made famous by Barack Obama, since he has a dog of the same breed called B.
